Velvet Jewelry Boxes
Velvet and velour are the traditional jewelry box finishes, and still the ones most customers picture when they imagine a ring box. Noble Pack stocks 42 styles across both. Most of this range is velour, which is the harder-wearing of the two, with a smaller number in true velvet including our Heritage single ring box.
Styles
Single ring, double ring, single earring, French clip earring, pendant, large pendant, bracelet and universal formats, so a full counter can be packaged in one finish.
Velvet or Velour
- Velour has a shorter, denser pile. It holds its appearance better through handling and is the practical choice for display and everyday retail.
- Velvet has a longer pile and a deeper lustre under light. It is the more luxurious of the two in the hand and the better choice for a piece sold as a keepsake.
Where This Fits
Gemstones and polished metal both read well against a napped surface, which is why velour and velvet remain standard for engagement rings and coloured stones. For a more contemporary look, compare suede and matte luxury paper. For durability under constant handling, leatherette wears better than either.
Custom Logo Options
Napped surfaces take foil stamping better than print. Our custom packaging team will advise on placement, since a logo on a pile finish needs more space around it than on paper or leatherette.
Velvet Jewelry Box FAQs
Is velour just cheap velvet?
No, it is a different construction. The shorter pile is more hard-wearing, which is why most retail boxes use it.
Why do gemstones look better in these boxes?
A napped surface scatters light instead of reflecting it, so the stone is the brightest thing in the box.
Do these come in a double ring format?
Yes, which is the usual choice for a wedding set.
